The Drug Incidents Causing Starbucks to Close Los Angeles Locations

Drug Incidents at Starbucks in Los Angeles

Several Starbucks locations in and around the LA area have had to deal with challenging incidents revolving around drug addiction and other crimes in their stores. Unfortunately, the coffee giant announced that, as a result, Starbucks is set to close several of its store locations. These issues, including drug abuse and property crimes, have caused a great debate in the area regarding several of the policies that Starbucks in the Los Angeles area currently maintains.

Starbucks Plans to Close Six Los Angeles Locations

The announcement involving the fact that Starbucks locations are closing came as a surprise to many people. However, Starbucks in the Los Angeles area indicated that customer and employee safety is paramount. Due to these issues, including drug abuse and other property crimes, the coffee giant thought it was best to close these stores.

Does Starbucks’ Open Bathroom Policy Invite Drug Use?

The question involves whether Starbucks’ open bathroom policies not only in LA but in Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and throughout the country have caused these safety concerns. These challenging incidents have certainly caused this policy to come into question. Ultimately, Starbucks has thought that the best solution is permanently closing the stores instead of adjusting its policies which is something that not every person agrees with. Many customers feel like rising drug use within the store is something that Starbucks could address, including the safety issues that this open policy may have. Understandably, many customers may not feel safe due to this policy. However, this is something that Starbucks continues to stand behind, which ultimately results in store closures that could put several Starbucks workers out of a job.
