With our caring and dedicated staff, first-class amenities, and comfortable housing, Muse is a peaceful place to detox and rehabilitate, offering comprehensive, integrated care, away from life’s everyday stresses.

At Muse Addiction Treatment Center, we have therapy options like

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Common for treating substance disorders, CBT focuses on treating underlying behaviors and emotional disorders, and retraining the brain to avoid negative behaviors, by deconstructing behavior, helping patients find the reason behind substance dependency, and finding new ways to deal with the problem.

Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)

REBT is used for dual diagnosis treatment, as it addresses underlying issues and replaces harmful behaviors with healthy coping techniques. It focuses on the patient’s perspective on an issue, with the reasoning that most situations are not inherently good or bad, it just depends on how you think about them.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an approach to treating trauma, panic, anxiety, and other psychological symptoms by reconnecting the patient to images, thoughts, body sensations, and emotions associated with their trauma in a safe and measured way. The patient will reprocess the traumatic information until it is no longer psychologically disruptive to them.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that emphasizes the psychosocial aspects of substance abuse, helping the patient understand the social and emotional reasons behind their substance abuse. They learn to replace negative or self-destructive emotions and behaviors with positive and productive ones, and then work to change their responses. DBT integrates distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Experiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a technique that uses expressive tools and activities like art, role-playing, animal care, and recreation to re-experience emotional trauma from the past. A trained therapist will guide patients through releasing and exploring anger, hurt or shame, as they re-experience the repressed, negative emotions from the past.

One-on-one Talk Therapy

This is individual therapy, also known as psychotherapy or counseling. It is a process between a therapist and a patient that is especially useful when a person feels overwhelmed, unhappy, or hopeless, or if an issue is causing distress or interferes with everyday life. One-on-one therapy can help a person develop healthy coping skills, identify underlying causes of symptoms, and provide strategies to stop unwanted thoughts and behaviors.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is counseling that helps family members resolve conflicts and improve communication. It is used to get through stressful times, deepen family connections, and improve troubled relationships. Any situation that causes grief, anger, or conflict can be helped with family therapy, and the skills learned can be used long after the sessions are over. It can help family members understand each other better.

We also offer:

  •       Vocational Training
  •       Life Skills Training
  •       Dual Diagnosis
  •       Relapse Prevention Skills
  •       12 Step Groups
  •       SMART Recovery Groups

All of the staff at Muse Addiction Treatment Center uses trauma-informed practices in their work. This is the acknowledgement that health care workers need to understand the full picture of their patient’s life situation to provide a healing environment. We know that not everybody feels safe around doctors and other medical or mental health staff. Each patient’s past and present life experiences need to be respected and considered, and issues like informed consent, collaboration, open decision making, and client empowerment are of utmost importance.

At Muse Treatment, we know that building and maintaining trust is crucial for a patient’s engagement and their treatment outcomes, so we use the best practices to avoid re-traumatization and ensure everybody feels safe and heard throughout their treatment.

Peer groups, counseling and therapy are also extremely important in helping an addicted person through tough moments, to avoid relapse. After detox and rehab, an outpatient program, and sometimes staying in a sober living home are the best options for a continued connection with a sober community. Outpatient treatment is ideal for people who cannot leave their jobs, families, or other important commitments. It is also beneficial for those who have completed residential treatment and would like continued guidance from our staff.

An important part of any recovery is a continued treatment plan. Healthy coping mechanisms are learned in recovery but putting those plans into place in the real world may take extra support.

The ideal candidate for outpatient treatment feels confident they can avoid using drugs and alcohol, even when they are stressed, bored, pressured, or otherwise triggered. They will have completed a detox and a residential inpatient rehab program, they are highly motivated in their recovery, and they feel ready to use their new recovery skills in an unstructured environment. They will also not be experiencing physical withdrawal symptoms, as this would require clinical care and supervision. Some chronic addictions will need long-term residential rehab before moving to an outpatient program.

At Muse Treatment, we provide up to seven days a week of outpatient care, depending on your individual needs and preferences. You can visit any Muse Treatment center for a few hours, or at scheduled intervals to attend our evidence-based support groups like SMART Recovery, or a more traditional and spiritual 12-Step program. We will customize a plan to suit your needs. Some of the plans available are:

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

This Program is an intermediary step between residential rehab and outpatient rehab. It is a balance between clinical care and personal responsibility. Patients will spend up to six hours a day, five to seven days per week in therapy and groups, with strong support and guidance from expert staff. In this program you will experience real-life challenges, and shift to a more individually responsible lifestyle, using your new coping skills to maintain a long-term, sustained recovery.

 Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Intensive Outpatient Program is best suited for those who have a stable home life, with family or friends who are able and ready to provide positive recovery support. If you have a solid, sober, social network and are strongly motivated in your sobriety, you may be a good candidate for IOP.

In the IOP, you will have the flexibility to maintain a normal schedule, going to work, school, or taking care of family and other responsibilities, while attending therapy and groups outside of those hours. You will have continued support that will help you get through tough times and apply the new skills learned in treatment to everyday life situations.

This program has an emphasis on accountability and provides a healthy support system of peers in group therapy, as well as connections with our alumni community. They will be there to help you and provide alternative solutions when you are presented with challenges or temptations.

Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP)

The Virtual Intensive Outpatient program is an online option for continued care after you complete our residential treatment program. Available at select Muse Treatment locations, the VIOP takes place via a special telehealth platform, so you can stay on track and attend meetings and therapy virtually if you do not live near a Muse location. These virtual meetings can provide additional support when returning to jobs, families, and other responsibilities.

As clients using the VIOP will be physically distanced from Muse therapists and clinicians, it is only beneficial for highly motivated individuals with a low risk of relapse who have a solid social network and live in a steady, sober-friendly environment.

Aftercare with Muse Treatment

After residential treatment, patients are encouraged to remain in aftercare treatment for as long as they want. At Muse, we will continue giving support, counseling, and group therapy to best help all our patients succeed in achieving long-term sobriety.

As everybody has a different lifestyle, and wants different things, it is sometimes beneficial to customize a recovery plan to the individual rather than try and fit a person into a predetermined program. Muse Treatment can tailor outpatient care to best suit you and your life.

Sober Living Homes

Sober living is an important step for people who have completed residential rehab and either don’t have stable housing to return to, or for those who want to live in a more structured environment than they have at home to keep them on track. Sober homes typically have rules like random drug test compliance, curfews, fee payments, chores, and house meeting attendance.

These homes vary in the level of freedom and requirements. Some allow you to come and go as you please, others require you to be actively involved in a treatment program or working full-time. Some homes have on-site doctors or social workers. At Muse Treatment, we can give you referrals to sober homes near you that will fit the type of life you want to lead once you leave our residential program.

Alumni Program

Addiction recovery is a life-long process. Muse Addiction Treatment Center has a voluntary network of alumni to help you remain connected to a positive and sober community, long after leaving rehab. We host alumni gatherings and reunions at Muse. This group of like-minded people are there to offer friendship and mentorship, and are a lasting support system that you can always reach out to.

Every Muse patient has the option and is encouraged to stay in our outpatient program for as long as they need so that they feel ready to confidently live a sober life in the outside world. With our sober living affiliate homes, our alumni program, and our outpatient programs, nobody needs to feel like they are alone in their recovery. Our programs will give you the skills you need to get sober, remain sober, and take back control of your life.

Alcohol Detox Program

Detoxing from alcohol addiction should always be supervised by medical professionals. It is one of the only drugs where withdrawal symptoms can become severe enough to be fatal.

Some milder symptoms can include tremors, anxiety and mood swings, confusion, headache, insomnia, and increased heart rate. If a person has been drinking for a long time or very heavily, they may experience delirium tremens (DTs). These are dangerous withdrawal symptoms that can include high fever, hallucinations, and seizures. These symptoms can become life-threatening if not treated medically.

For this reason, it is highly recommended to use a medically assisted treatment (MAT). MAT is an integrated treatment, created to treat the biological and the behavioral components of addiction. Medications are given to satisfy the body’s alcohol cravings, keep you safe from dangerous withdrawal symptoms and shock, and help you feel comfortable as you get through this challenging time.

Drug Detox Program

At Muse, we offer safe and effective, medically supervised drug detox programs. Almost any drug that creates a physical dependence requires a detox period. Your symptoms will vary, depending on the drug, but may include aches, tremors, restlessness, and intense drug cravings, and you may have psychological symptoms like anxiety or depression.

At Muse, you can stay in our residential program and detox from drugs using a medically assisted treatment program. Withdrawal symptoms will be mitigated using prescription doses of medication given by our clinical staff. Detox is different for everybody, so MAT is tailored to your body, addiction, metabolism, and unique circumstances. MAT is the recommended method for detoxing from drugs and alcohol, as it will keep you safe and comfortable as the drugs leave your body.

In some instances, if it is safe and if you wish, you can also do a medication-free social detox. During social detox, you will stay in the same facility and have 24/7 access to medical staff, who will monitor your progress and make sure no serious effects are happening as the drugs leave your system. We provide counselling to help with the emotional and psychological effects of detoxing, but no medications are given.

Alcohol Rehab For Residents Of Sacramento

Alcohol rehab at Muse begins after detox ends. We will screen for physical and mental health issues, and conduct an in-depth interview to formulate a long-term, personalized rehabilitation plan that is customized to your needs, goals, and budget.

After detox, you have options, but it is recommended to stay in rehab for a minimum of 30 days. Most residential programs are 30, 60, or 90 days long, and will significantly reduce the risk of relapse. You will have access to all our facilities, with fresh, healthy food, exercise and diet plans, multiple forms of therapy, activities, and life-skills training.

At Muse Treatment, we will help you grow and find ways to take back control of your life, so you can live healthier and alcohol-free. We care about each patient as an individual with unique needs, goals, and preferences.

Once you are ready to transition, we provide options for outpatient care, as well as access to alumni groups and affiliated sober living homes. You are encouraged to stay connected with Muse alumni and remain in our programs for as long as you need.

How Much Does Rehab Cost?

At Muse Treatment, we want to make safe detox programs and rehabilitation available to anybody who needs it, and we know that everybody’s situation is different. That is why we will work with you to figure out a program that is right for you and fits your budget. We offer payment plans to our cash clients.

It is important to note that addictions and mental health services are also covered by insurance, so it would be beneficial to talk to your provider about your specific coverage.

How Long is Detox?

Because everybody’s addiction, bodies, situation, and goals are different, everybody will have a different detox timeline. Some variables that affect the timeline include:

  •       Health history
  •       Length of drug use
  •       Type of drug
  •       Co-occurring conditions

Everybody has a different metabolism and history, and every drug affects the body differently. In general, withdrawal symptoms start showing up in two to six hours after the final use of the drug, and they grow steadily, until they peak at around the 72-hour mark. After that, you will gradually feel better, until you are ready to go into rehab.

Medically assisted therapy is important to use during detox. It is the best method to safely stop drug and alcohol use. Without clinical care, the body can go into shock or experience other dangerous effects. At Muse Treatment, we have 24-hour staff who can safely administer medications and therapies to help with physical withdrawal symptoms. We also introduce counselling at this time to help with emotions and feelings of distress. Medical detox is the safest and most comfortable method while stopping drug or alcohol use.

How Long is Rehab?

Rehab can be as long or as short as you want it to be. We strongly recommend a minimum stay of 30 days in a residential treatment program, so there is time to find the root of addiction and treat other health issues using a dual diagnosis program.

After our inpatient program, you can move on into our aftercare and outpatient programs. These are designed to allow you to return to life, and use your recovery skills in real-world situations, with continued support from our expert staff. Depending on your level of comfort, you can move into a sober home and attend therapy and groups for up to six hours a day, or you can move back in with your loved ones, return to your job or school, and attend sessions that fit around your day-to-day schedule. There is a program that will fit anybody’s situation or lifestyle, and we will help you figure out what is best for you.

30-Day Rehab (Short-Term Rehab)

Short-term rehab at Muse Treatment lasts for a minimum of 30 days. In this period of time, you will find yourself in a comfortable residence, with full-sized beds and TVs in the rooms, amongst peers who are going through something similar to you.

You will have a structured daily living plan, attending therapy sessions and spending time doing recreational activities like sports and movie nights. Our highly trained, expert staff will be around 24 hours every day, to help you with any physical or emotional issues that may come up.

At Muse Addiction Treatment Center, there is nutritional counselling and an on-site chef who can accommodate any special dietary needs you may have. There are exercise facilities so you can keep your body strong, and you will be invited to join us on our off-site trips to beaches, surfing or hiking trips, and other outings.

The short-term rehab program will give you a full month to rest, take care of your mind and your body, and focus on your recovery.

Long-Term Rehab (60-90 Days)

At Muse, our long-term rehab programs are usually 60 or 90 days long. You will stay in our safe and welcoming environment during that time, spending it on yourself and your recovery. Our facilities were created to promote wellness, not only to do with sobriety, but also peace of mind, and bodily health. We want you to feel better on all levels by the time your rehab is over.

You can attend our community gatherings, game nights and movie nights, and possibly make some lasting sober friendships. We have a very experienced clinical staff, many of whom are in recovery themselves, so you will be supported in every way while in rehab at Muse.

With our wide variety of therapy and counselling options, you will be able to customize your treatment so that it works best for you. Our vocational and life-skills courses are another good way to spend your time, especially if your addiction got in the way of learning things like self-management, career planning, or body care in the past.

Muse provides a structured environment, with a focus on long-term recovery, and learning to navigate life while sober. The longer you remain in rehab, the less likely you are to have a relapse.

Couples Rehab

There are many reasons a couple would enter rehab together. Some couples realize they can no longer have fun together while sober. Others are fighting and pushing each others’ boundaries. Others are having money troubles and missing work due to drugs or alcohol.

At Muse Treatment, we offer couples rehabilitation, so you and your significant other can rehabilitate together to gain a healthier, substance-free relationship. You will gain tools to get sober, stay sober, and support one another in your recoveries. You will also learn to communicate better, and gain other skills to help strengthen your relationship. Couples therapy can help you avoid more financial loss, emotional distance, and damage to the relationship.

Whatever your situation is, going into rehab together has been proven to be more beneficial to each person on their own, and the relationship as well. Muse Treatment’s alcohol and drug rehab provides a positive framework for life after treatment and gives you the best chance to thrive.

Pet-Friendly Rehab

Having a pet is a big responsibility, and it can become a barrier when deciding whether to enter a rehab facility or not. At Muse, you can bring your pet with you as you rehabilitate. We believe the unconditional love of your pet will give you companionship and emotional support, and improve your physical and mental states of being. Pet ownership adds structure and responsibility to your days, improves feelings of self-worth and provides a sense of purpose.

Bringing your pet with you to Muse will take away the stress of trying to find a pet-sitter or worrying that they will not be taken care of properly. Having an animal around can lower your heart rate and blood pressure and can increase your socialization and physical activity. Your pet is welcome at Muse.

Does My Insurance Have Coverage for Rehab?

In the USA, mental health and addiction services are covered by insurance as essential health benefits, thanks to the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) of 2010. It is a good idea to talk to your insurance provider before entering rehab to find out exactly what prescriptions, therapies, and treatments will be covered under your specific plan.

To hear about your options, the steps you can take towards rehabilitation, or to ask us any questions, contact us. We are here to help you take your first steps toward your own recovery.
