We’re grateful they’re grateful.
If you are looking for a place to really try to change your life, Muse is a great place! The staff were all so in tune with what I was going through. If I ever had a problem, or was feeling like using, I could go to them and they'd talk to me. It didn’t matter what time of the day or night it was. I had never had people who cared about me so much that weren’t family. I still stay in touch with people I went through the house with, we go to meetings and go surfing and other things I never did when I was loaded. It’s a great life, and I really never thought I would be so happy.
I’ve been through 5 other detox programs and was pretty sure none of them would ever work. I decided to give it one more try before just resigning to being a junkie the rest of my life. I found Muse and I have to say I am pretty surprised. I have over 8 months clean and it’s more time than I’ve had the last 11 years. All the groups were great, and the neuro-feedback was something I haven’t seen anywhere else. I still see my therapist and I am so happy. I am very grateful to Muse!
I never wanted to go to treatment. I always thought I could quit on my own. I tried myself dozens of times but always went back. I could stay quit for a day or two but never more. I didn’t know what to do. I thought I would die and never thought I could live without my drug. When I finally realized that I needed some help I was terrified. The staff at Muse really knew what I was going through. They had been through it themselves and showed me the way. I have never been sober this long in my life, and if I keep doing what I’m doing, what they taught me, I think I’ll stay sober.
I stayed at Muse Sober Living for two months. When I arrived I was very emotionally and spiritually sick. My drug and alcohol dependence nearly took my life on several occasions. The structure of being surrounded by others in recovery, having chores, going to meetings and never knowing when I would get tested helped me to stay sober long enough to let the program work me. Today I am grateful to say I am clean and sober for just under a year now. My life today, inside and out, is 180 degrees away in the right direction.
Muse utilizes an integrated approach to healing the brain. While most facilities focus on one general area, we emphasize a holistic, whole-brain approach in our drug rehab, alcohol treatment and dual diagnosis programs…

Outpatient rehab is continued therapy and cou0nselling for people who are not currently in a residential program, but want access to professional help when dealing with addiction and recovery. It works best for people who are not experiencing any physical withdrawal symptoms. Those who are motivated in their recovery, are willing to attend therapy sessions and can control drug cravings when alone, stressed, bored, or otherwise triggered are good candidates. It is best if you reside in a stable place or in a sober living home.
Outpatient rehab is ideal for those who cannot leave life’s responsibilities for a long period of time. It acts as relapse prevention after residential treatment, providing continued support and guidance from our expert staff.
Muse Treatment is the top-rated outpatient drug rehab center for residents of Sacramento. We provide lots of support while you bring your healthy coping mechanisms from rehab into the real world, through sober housing referrals, continued therapy, groups, and coaching.
We provide up to seven days a week of outpatient care, depending on what you need. We can schedule individual therapy sessions at a Muse location, you can attend SMART or 12-step groups, and we also have a voluntary alumni group that you can join for outings, meetings, and reunions.
You can still go to work and school while in rehab. At Muse, our Intensive Outpatient Program can work around your schedule. The IOP gives you the flexibility to take care of life’s responsibilities while attending therapy and groups outside those hours. You will have continued support through difficult times in our facility and through our alumni group. We will help you continue to apply recovery skills in everyday life scenarios.
At some Muse locations, there is also the option for a virtual IOP, where therapy and counseling happen via a special telehealth platform, online. These virtual meetings can provide additional support when you are presented with temptations or triggers.
The Intensive Outpatient Program is best suited to those with a low risk of relapsing, who live in a stable home with a solid and sober-friendly social network. You should be motivated in your recovery and feel you are able to resist relapsing, even when faced with stress, boredom, or other triggers. You should have already been through a detox and have no physical withdrawal symptoms to be a candidate for the IOP.
If you decide you want to enter an IOP program, but need extra support at home, you can enter a sober living home. Many of these homes allow you to come and go to attend to work, school, or other responsibilities, but they also expect you to abide by rules like curfews, drug testing, house chores, and on-time fee payments. Muse Addiction Treatment Center can help you choose a suitable sober home for you and your lifestyle.
Returning to a regular routine after leaving rehab can be challenging. You will be faced with all the problems you left behind, like money stress, boredom, peer pressure, and the strain of everyday life. When it begins to feel overwhelming, the temptation to use drugs may return. This is why aftercare is important to fostering a sustained recovery.
Your aftercare treatment program can be customized to suit you and your lifestyle. It has been proven that customizing recovery plans to the individual has a lasting effect, and promotes long-term sobriety.
During outpatient rehab, we have several plans for you to choose from, and we can customize them to suit your individual needs.
There is the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), where you will spend most of your days in therapy and groups while living at home. This will provide you with strong reinforcement and help to deal with real-world scenarios, but shift the focus onto your own personal responsibility.
We have an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), where you will have the flexibility to maintain a normal schedule, while going to 12-step or SMART groups, individual therapy, and meeting with counselors outside that time. The IOP is sometimes offered online, depending on the facility. This program emphasizes your accountability, and provides a healthy support system of peers, connecting you with our robust alumni community. With all this support combined, you will always have somewhere to turn when you are presented with challenges or temptations.
If you are not feeling confident that your living situation will benefit your sobriety, or if you would prefer to move somewhere more structured than where you currently reside, we can refer you to a sober living home. These homes are all different but will generally be more strict than living with roommates or family. Most of them have rules and expect you to be personally responsible.
Just as every person is unique, everybody’s rehab and recovery path is unique. You may experience backslides or relapse, you may feel nervous about living in an unstructured environment, or you may want to make new friends who prefer sober activities to drug use to keep yourself on track.
At Muse, we will continue to offer support in as many ways as possible, through group sessions, therapy appointments, and other voluntary alumni events like barbecues, meetings, and outings, so you will have the opportunity to foster sober friendships and reinforce the healthy skills and coping techniques you learned during rehab.
We want to make sure you feel supported in your recovery for as long as you need and will be there for you long after your residential treatment.
On top of the support and numerous options for outpatient rehab, Muse also has a fantastic group of alumni. Addiction recovery is a life-long process, and our alumni group is there to help you stay connected to a positive, sober community, for as long as you want. We host alumni gatherings and reunions at Muse Treatment, so that you can get to know people who can act as a lasting support system that you can always reach out to, long after rehab is over. You will never be alone in your recovery.
At Muse Treatment, we encourage all our patients to remain in aftercare until they feel ready to move on. Your comfort and confidence is important to us. With our sober living home referrals, our alumni program, and our excellent facilities and therapy options, we will help you learn to take control and live your life independently, without the use of drugs or alcohol.0
