Gabriella Azzam, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY 29357) and Primary Therapist at Muse Treatment and Recovery Center. After graduating from the American University of Beirut with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Dr. Azzam obtained her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Azzam has worked in a variety of mental health settings; including community mental health, elementary and high schools, psychiatric hospitals, and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at The Institute for Multicultural Counseling & Education Services (IMCES) in Los Angeles.
Dr. Azzam’s practice is strongly informed by humanistic and existential theories, and her conceptualization follows a very person-centered approach. Her clinical training spans from psychodynamic theory to cognitive-behavioral therapy, mainly informed by evidence-based practices. Her ultimate goal is to help her clients find what is meaningful to them, and to help them be their true selves. She believes that as clients find such meaning, they will be more satisfied with their lives, they will be more attuned to who they truly are, and it will help to empower and strengthen them to take on the responsibility of living their own lives in a healthy manner. Because Dr. Azzam’s personal values and professional aim are to provide culturally responsive and competent therapy, she integrates an understanding of diversity throughout treatment in order to help her view the client from their own worldview.
Additionally, Dr. Azzam is fluent in Arabic and French. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, reading, brunch, meeting new people, and exploring new places.
