The first ever Family Weekend at Muse took place in February of 2015. Dozens of family members and the loved ones of our clients congregated together for three days to participate in addiction workshops, family therapy, and to learn about the disease of addiction. If you’re kicking yourself right now for missing this incredible opportunity, don’t worry, because the weekend was such a success for everyone involved that there’s another one right around the corner.
The upcoming Family Weekend will be held June 19th-21st at Muse and there are still several spots available. Anyone who is a relative of one of our clients is invited to attend for a series of groups and seminars aimed at bringing together the addict and their family. While treatment from the disease of addiction obviously focuses on the addict, it is also important to remember the parents, spouses, and loved ones who have often suffered years of anxiety and frustration trying to deal with addiction. This weekend can hopefully help to heal those family bonds which are often torn asunder by the disease of addiction. Whether you’re new to recovery or have participated in family therapies in the past, all are welcome.
Throughout the weekend, both the addict and their family members will have a chance to address key character defects in a caring, therapeutic environment, as well as learn more about how we at Muse treat the disease of addiction. Additionally, we are pleased to announce that on evening of Friday June 19th, we will be hosting a special guest speaker to kick off the event. Ed Storti has been helping individuals afflicted with addiction get the help they need for over 40 years. As a certified interventionist, author, and public speaker, Mr. Storti has literally revolutionized the field of addiction treatment. As the pioneer of The Storti Model for interventions, he has outlined his “motivational, inspirational, and spiritual method of working with the addicted person” which views intervention and treatment as a second chance at life. Mr. Storti has given talks to people in all avenues of the addiction community, from the health care workers and therapists to the family members and addicts themselves.
