Churches are staples in nearly every community in the United States and abroad. In Los Angeles, several significant, high-profile churches of note have taken the lead in modernizing their practices, including online sermons, posting on social media, and finding new ways to relate to their community. These churches include:
Mosaic Hollywood Church
Mosaic Church is located at 7107 Hollywood Boulevard and hosts Sunday Gatherings at 11 am weekly. A true Hollywood destination, Mosaic has its own podcast, “Battle Ready.” It has social media and hosts book clubs, scripture study classes, and you can even buy merch like hoodies and joggers on its website.
Mosaic’s Live Love organization partners with those living in developing countries such as Malawi to empower and transform communities by building schools, libraries, medical centers, and providing athletic equipment and solar energy.
Hillsong Church LA
Hillsong Church is located at 1145 San Pedro Street in Los Angeles, with in-person 10 am and 12 pm services, and they also host online gatherings. Along with church services, Hillsong has Sisterhood United, a women’s group that places value on female friendship, with women from all walks of life invited to join.
Hillsong takes pride in helping the community, from Skid Row to Rodeo Drive. The church also has a creative network that can connect members in visual art, singing/musicianship, TV, production, social media, graphic design, audio, and more.
Founders Metropolitan Community Church
Founders Church is located at 4607 Prospect Avenue, with worship services at 10 am. This is a progressive church. With services in both English and Spanish, Founders has a strong Latino community, and it is inclusive to all people, regardless of gender, sexuality, race, or cultural background.
Core Church LA
Core Church is located at 2037 S. La Cienega Boulevard. Service times are on Sundays at 8:30 am, 10:30 am, 6:30 pm, and Thursdays at 7:30 pm. This church’s mission is to teach about God culturally relevantly. You can listen to Pastor Steve speak on his internet radio show “Topical Studies,” and sermons are recorded and posted on their website, as well as being broadcast live.
Oasis Church
Oasis Church is located at 634 Normandie Avenue, with Sunday services at 9 am, and 11 am, both online and in-person. This church has a YouTube channel upon which it posts weekly sermons, and it has a podcast entitled “Oasis,” and a Spotify channel entitled “Even Now.” They are on Instagram and even have kids’ programs in person, with online lessons. Oasis Church believes that family values and togetherness are essential, as are intimate relationships with one another.
