Muse Detox and Inpatient Treatment Center is a safe haven for recovery from substance abuse and other mental health disorders.
We’re grateful they’re grateful.
If you are looking for a place to really try to change your life, Muse is a great place! The staff were all so in tune with what I was going through. If I ever had a problem, or was feeling like using, I could go to them and they'd talk to me. It didn’t matter what time of the day or night it was. I had never had people who cared about me so much that weren’t family. I still stay in touch with people I went through the house with, we go to meetings and go surfing and other things I never did when I was loaded. It’s a great life, and I really never thought I would be so happy.
I’ve been through 5 other detox programs and was pretty sure none of them would ever work. I decided to give it one more try before just resigning to being a junkie the rest of my life. I found Muse and I have to say I am pretty surprised. I have over 8 months clean and it’s more time than I’ve had the last 11 years. All the groups were great, and the neuro-feedback was something I haven’t seen anywhere else. I still see my therapist and I am so happy. I am very grateful to Muse!
I never wanted to go to treatment. I always thought I could quit on my own. I tried myself dozens of times but always went back. I could stay quit for a day or two but never more. I didn’t know what to do. I thought I would die and never thought I could live without my drug. When I finally realized that I needed some help I was terrified. The staff at Muse really knew what I was going through. They had been through it themselves and showed me the way. I have never been sober this long in my life, and if I keep doing what I’m doing, what they taught me, I think I’ll stay sober.
I stayed at Muse Sober Living for two months. When I arrived I was very emotionally and spiritually sick. My drug and alcohol dependence nearly took my life on several occasions. The structure of being surrounded by others in recovery, having chores, going to meetings and never knowing when I would get tested helped me to stay sober long enough to let the program work me. Today I am grateful to say I am clean and sober for just under a year now. My life today, inside and out, is 180 degrees away in the right direction.

Because of our comprehensive, integrated care, our amenities, and our peaceful and community-oriented facility, Muse Treatment is the top-rated alcohol detox program in Mar Vista. Our detox and rehabilitation plans integrate mental health, substance abuse and primary care services, focusing on the root of addiction using dual diagnosis when needed.
We care about each client as an individual with unique needs, goals, and budget. We have multiple payment options, and all care is administered by trained, experienced professionals.
When you decide to detox from alcohol, the first step is to stop drinking. With some drugs, all it may take is quitting cold turkey, or a few days to detox, but alcohol can have serious withdrawal side effects, and often requires professional intervention.
Alcohol withdrawal symptoms may include:
If a person has been drinking for a long period of time, drinking very heavily, or if other health issues are present, they may experience delirium tremens (DTs). DTs are dangerous withdrawal symptoms, including confusion and agitation, high fever, seizures, and hallucinations like feeling like something is crawling under your skin, or seeing and hearing things that are not there. These symptoms can be life-threatening if not treated medically.
At Muse Treatment, we have a 24-hour staff of medical professionals to monitor your health and make your detox safer and more comfortable. We first screen our clients for any co-occurring physical and mental health issues to determine whether a dual diagnosis treatment is necessary. We review drug, medical, and psychiatric history, so we can create a realistic long-term recovery plan.
Our staff takes a trauma-informed approach with everything we do, acknowledging that not everybody trusts or feels safe around doctors and other medical and mental health staff. We aim to create a collaborative and respectful environment, where you will feel safe and heard by our team.
Medically Assisted Therapy (MAT) reduces the risk of relapse. During detox you will stay in our home-like facilities, with 24/7 clinical staff onsite. There are licensed nurses available during the day to oversee the medical side of things, and therapy and counseling are introduced early in the detox process for emotional support and to help achieve the best results.
After alcohol detox, it is recommended to stay in our inpatient rehabilitation program, where you can receive therapy and training, to gain the skills to live an independent life without drugs or alcohol. Couples rehab treatment is available, and pets are allowed in our facilities.
We also offer multiple outpatient programs for when you are ready to move on. Alongside affiliated sober living homes, our outpatient and alumni communities will ensure you will be supported long after detox and rehab are over.
It can be difficult, uncomfortable, and even dangerous to detox from alcohol without professional help. Some factors that increase withdrawal risk include:
The recommended, safest detox plan is our medically assisted treatment (MAT), as detoxing from alcohol can be physically uncomfortable, painful, and even life-threatening. At Muse, detox takes place in a home-like environment, with expert staff who have been highly trained, many of whom are in recovery themselves. They truly care about helping you.
Alcohol addiction is not solely biological. With MAT at Muse, you are given a combination of medications, behavioral therapy, clinical care, and counselling to help you overcome the physical and psychological effects of addiction. This “whole patient” approach has been proven to improve the chances of a long-term, sustained recovery.
Your therapy and counselling program will continue into one of our inpatient rehabilitation programs, followed by an extended outpatient and alumni program, which can last for as long as you need.
At Muse, we support all levels of care. Every step can be completed within the same facility, so each transition within your rehabilitation plan can follow an easy trajectory without transfers and changes in care providers. Your customized care plan at Muse will improve your chances of not only making it through detox, but going on to live a healthier, happier, self-directed life, without dependence on drugs or alcohol.
Because everybody is different, with individual health, histories, and goals, detox is different for each person.
Timelines differ for everybody, but symptoms generally show up in two to six hours after your last drink, and last for around five days, with a peak at around 72 hours, where symptoms are at their worst.
Medical detoxification is important, as it is the safest and most comfortable method to deal with withdrawal and shock symptoms. At Muse, clients are monitored 24/7 to ensure serious withdrawal symptoms do not happen.
At Muse, our focus is on the underlying causes and roots of addiction. We treat co-occurring disorders, like trauma and mental health conditions alongside physical addiction, detox, and withdrawal. Our goal is to create a foundation for a lasting lifestyle transformation that can lead to long-term success in recovery. You will be in a new environment, living amongst peers going through a similar experience.
Our staff is highly trained and experienced, and about half are in recovery themselves. We offer 24-hour clinical care, and have a nurse practitioner on-site daily. Our head nurse is a certified addictions RN.
Muse is community oriented, and supports all levels of care, so each client can easily transition within the same facility. We offer 24-hour medical and emotional support to help with the transition after detox. Along with our alcohol detox program, Muse also treats other substance abuse and chemical dependence, dual diagnosis, trauma and PTSD, and co-occurring addictions.
You will stay in a home-like room, with a full-sized bed rather than a hospital bed so you can feel at home. Our food is fresh and healthy, with snacks available around the clock. The on-site chef can accommodate any special food requirements or dietary needs.
We have couples rehabilitation programs, and pets are allowed. Smoking is allowed outside, or in designated areas. There are TVs in the rooms, exercise areas, games, and movie nights. At each Muse location, we encourage participation in our offsite outings, like surfing, hiking, and beach trips, as well as the option to attend church on Sundays.
After detox we will create a customized plan for rehabilitation. Once you are ready to begin living a sober and independent life outside the facility, you will be encouraged to take all the time you need in our aftercare programs, including outpatient programs, joining our alumni community, and referrals to sober living homes if needed. Muse Treatment has a large sober community that will continue to be your support network for the rest of your life in recovery.
