When you choose Muse, you are working with an organization that understands drugs and alcohol can be damaging to a person’s mind, body and spirit.  That’s why we offer a holistic approach to drug and alcohol detox and rehab. Choosing to enter a drug or alcohol treatment program is a big first step in a person’s progression towards living an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle.  It may seem simple, but making that first call or going to that first meeting is a milestone in and of itself.  It means you have recognized that you have a problem and want to do something about it.  At Muse, we have options to fit everyone’s needs when it comes to alcohol and drug treatment.  We offer both inpatient and outpatient care, which includes detox programs, rehab therapy, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), dual diagnosis treatment, sober living facilities, and coordination with aftercare support groups.  There are also many treatments and educational options within all of our programs for our clients to choose from to truly customize the care we offer.

There are a lot of addiction treatment centers to choose from in California and across the country but at Muse, we feel we offer the best options for our patients which results in their long-lasting success in recovery.

Alcohol Detox Program

Alcohol abuse, alcoholism, alcohol addiction, all of which are referred to under the single term of Alcohol Use Disorder AUD), maybe the most accepted form of substance abuse due to the legality and social norm of drinking in the United States and many other countries.  People understand that some individuals who drink have a problem and must seek treatment in order to deal with their issues. Of course, this is a simplification of all of the things in a person’s life that can lead them to abuse alcohol or becoming dependent.

At Muse Treatment, we understand that there are many reasons why alcohol may be having a negative effect on someone’s life and through our comprehensive care plans it is our goal to help them break away from the cycle of substance abuse once and for all.

For people who are dependent on alcohol, which means they must drink every day or will otherwise experience withdrawal symptoms, the first step is to take part in our alcohol detox program.  At Muse, we offer a residential alcohol detox program at our Los Angeles Inpatient Rehab Center.  Here we are able to help our clients who are alcohol dependent go through withdrawal and detox in a safe, secure environment.  Even the thought of detoxing can be daunting and that’s why it is best done under the supervision of trained professionals.

No one should ever try and detox on their own at home.  Detoxing in an environment where alcohol could easily be acquired can be very dangerous and at the least can easily lead to the individual giving up and drinking again.  No matter how strong you feel you are, there’s no reason to go through this tough first stage of recovery alone.

Drug Detox Program

Drug detox in another program we offer at the Muse Los Angeles Inpatient Rehab Center.  As opposed to our alcohol detox program, drug detox covers a large number of substances and treatment can vary much more greatly for our clients who begin their recovery from either illicit or prescription drugs.  Like alcohol detox, drug detox should never be attempted at home. While either illicit or prescription substances may not be as easy to acquire as alcohol, it is still very dangerous to try and detox on your own.  In fact, the unavailability of your substance of choice can actually cause one of the dangers.

If a person begins to go through withdrawal at home with the intent of detoxing on their own and feels they cannot handle the effects it is having on them, they will often use the first substance they can find.  This can lead to overdoses when a person is using a substance with which they are not familiar.  Relapsing during withdrawal can also lead to binging, which again can lead to an overdose.  All of this may seem frightening but that’s why we are available at Muse Treatment, to get you through this sometimes tough first step in your recovery.

While you are in our drug detox program, you will be regularly monitored by our medical staff.  One of the first steps will be to take a full medical history, so our doctors and nurses know as much as possible about your current level of health.  We also conduct an initial psychiatric exam, which gives us a view of your current mental state.  While detox is typically looked at as the physical removal of the substance or substances you have been abusing from your system, many withdrawal symptoms can have a psychological or even emotional impact. Once you have been assessed, the types of over-the-counter and prescription medications that may be used during your detox are reviewed.  Substances that people abuse have a long list of withdrawal symptoms but many of the lists include nausea, body aches, restlessness, headaches, and sleeplessness, all of which can be mitigated with non-prescription medicines.

For people who are detoxing from opioid addiction, there are additional protocols that can be used.  Addiction to illicit or prescription opioids like heroin, Oxycodone, or Fentanyl, to name a few, can cause severe withdrawal symptoms, some of which can be dangerous to a patient’s health.  For opioid abuse clients, we have Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) programs that can help slowly wean them off of the substance they have been abusing.  These are sometimes called slow tapers or drug replacement programs and allow our medical staff to remove the substance from a person’s system in a slower, more controlled way, so that withdrawal symptoms are less impactful.

No matter whether it is alcohol or drug detox, our clinical staff and therapists are always available to support our patients in any way possible.  Sometimes it is enough just to know you have a team of caring, thoughtful people around you pulling for you to succeed.  At Muse, we believe in working on a person’s struggle with abuse or addiction from every angle possible and that means thinking outside the box when it comes to therapy and support services.  Drug or alcohol detox is never going to be an enjoyable experience but by making our clients as comfortable as possible, both physically and emotionally, we can make it much less painful.

Alcohol Rehab for Long Beach Residents

At Muse in Los Angeles, just a short drive from Long Beach, alcohol rehab is available in both outpatient and inpatient environments.  Many of our patients benefit from spending time in both settings, which others may only need outpatient care as part of their first step in recovery.  Whether it’s residential or outpatient care, our clients have many choices when it comes to the types of therapy they receive.  By custom-tailoring each of our patient’s treatment plans, we can more easily transfer the skills they need to have long-term success in recovery.

At Muse, as part of our inpatient rehab program, we offer traditional services such as individual and group therapy sessions.  We also believe in helping our clients heal in more ways than no longer drinking or using drugs.  We offer many other therapeutic modalities than the standard individual cognitive-behavioral therapy as part of our residential care plans.  We also have a strong focus on education.  Alcohol rehab should not be something you check off your list as part of beginning your recovery.  It should prepare you to live your life in a new way.  We promote this concept by offering a large number of group learning opportunities given by highly trained substance abuse and mental health specialists. Some of the topics that are explored include; mindfulness, somatic exercises, meditation, self-esteem, self-awareness, interpersonal relationships, family dynamics, and many others.

One of the other benefits of inpatient alcohol rehab for residents of Long Beach is the structure it provides our clients.  When a person is abusing drugs or alcohol, their life may not be totally out of control, but they have given up some of their self-discipline to the substance that is negatively affecting their life. The structured environment of an inpatient alcohol rehab program allows people to put their lives back on track and get into a normal rhythm that they may have lost due to substance abuse.  This can include things that seem very simple, like eating regular, healthy meals, going to bed at the same time every evening, and getting basic daily exercise.  This is all part of our holistic approach to drug and alcohol rehab at Muse Treatment.

Drug Rehab for Long Beach, CA Residents

Drug Rehab is also offered to residents of Long Beach at both our residential facility in Los Angeles and in an outpatient environment.  On paper, drug rehab seems very straightforward to the outside observer.  A person is addicted to cocaine, they go through drug detox, take part in an inpatient drug rehab program, go to outpatient therapy for a few months, and they have put drug abuse behind them.  It is rarely as simple as that.

Many of our patients abuse more than one type of drug, even if that means that they use opioids and also drink.  This can make both drug detox and rehab more complicated.  A person may use cocaine to feel high and invincible and also may drink to calm down and relax.  They will be physically, emotionally, and psychologically adjusted to being able to use the substances whenever they want to make them feel a certain way.  All of these factors need to be addressed when a person is in drug rehab in order to ensure they will not be triggered to use again once they re-enter society.

When a person begins residential drug rehab it is because they understand they will need help in order to put substance abuse behind them and live a drug-free lifestyle.  One of the many benefits of drug rehab is that it shows you that you are not alone in your struggle with the negative effects of substance abuse.  This new environment puts you with people who are also committed to no longer abusing drugs.  This may not be the case in your usual setting.  Drug rehab is a great place to make new friends who have similar mindsets.  These new relationships can become the cornerstones of your support structure that you will lean on for years to come.

How Much Does Rehab Cost?

One of the biggest reasons people do not enter alcohol or drug rehab is that they think that they can’t afford it or they will go broke trying to pay for it.  Loved ones also often feel the same way, that they would like to get their friend or family member the help they need but it is just out of their reach financially.

At Muse, we work with every potential client to help them decide what type of treatment will work best for them while feeling comfortable about the costs.  Due to the comprehensive approach to alcohol and drug rehab that we promote at Muse Treatment, there are many options for our clients to choose from, and the cost of each is fully discussed before any treatment has begun.

Drug detox and rehab can be stressful on patients and their loved one and we try not to add financial concerns to their list of worries.  No one should ever not be able to get the drug rehab treatment they need.  Please feel free to enquire about the cost of programs when you speak to one of our abuse and addiction counseling specialists.

How Long is Detox?

Many people who begin treatment for alcohol or drug abuse or addiction will go through many phases of treatment. Withdrawal symptoms can vary greatly across the different types of substances we treat and when we begin working with someone in detox this needs to be taken into account when we are deciding on their exact care.

Detox can be a tough road for a lot of people and that’s why we stress so strongly that it should never be attempted at home.  It is predictable that a person who has been addicted to drugs or alcohol will experience withdrawal symptoms but it is never easy to tell which affects a person will encounter or how severe they will be until once they have started to detox.

At Muse, we treat people who are beginning their recovery and who have abused alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, marijuana, Amphetamines, and other stimulants.  Opiate withdrawal can cause nausea, anxiety, and insomnia.  Withdrawal from benzodiazepines can result in dizziness, dry mouth, and chest pains. Alcohol withdrawal can include headaches, agitation, and convulsions. Beginning detox from marijuana can trigger stomach cramps, depersonalization, and irritability. Withdrawal symptoms from stimulants include exhaustion, attention difficulty, and tremors.  What all this means is that everyone’s experience in detox and in rehab as a whole is going to be different.

In general, alcohol or drug detox lasts from four days to up to two weeks.  It is rare that withdrawal symptoms last more than 14 days for most substances, opiates being the one typical exception.  People who are addicted to illicit or prescription opiates (or opioids, the terms are often used interchangeably) can display symptoms for much longer than other substances.  Opiate users are often put on longer detox protocols that employ prescription medications in order to slowly wean patients off of the substance they have abused.  This is done so there is less shock to their system when they stop using this severely addictive category of drugs.

How Long is Rehab?

In many cases, our clients at Muse Treatment take part in both inpatient and outpatient treatment for substance abuse.  For inpatient drug or alcohol rehab, programs typically last 30, 60, or 90 days.  A 30-day program is considered short-term and a 60 or 90-day program is referred to as long-term residential treatment.  Many experts agree that any amount of time spent in a residential program can be beneficial to those who have abused or become addicted to drugs or alcohol.

Inpatient drug or alcohol rehab avails you of medical and professional support 24 hours a day.  Taking time to step away from your normal environment allows you to reflect on all of the ways drugs or alcohol may be affecting your life.  Although there are options as part of any type of treatment you receive at Muse, there are more choices that are included as part of our residential care.  Inpatient care lowers the risk of relapsing to almost zero as the entire facility is drug-free.  Being able to focus exclusively on your rehab for 30, 60, or 90 days can be a great way to begin your recovery.

Muse Intensive Outpatient Rehab Center is focused on helping our patients either continue their journey after a residential program or introduce them to therapy and counseling that will assist them to begin their recovery on the right foot. Much like at our residential facility, Muse outpatient services include education group sessions that go beyond just basic rehab therapy.  We want you to be prepared in every way to successfully re-enter society and move forward in your life.  Some of the topics we cover include anger management, life skills, addiction awareness, reflective listening, communication skills, stress reduction, and most importantly, relapse prevention.

At Muse Treatment we believe strongly in our clients getting involved in 12-step aftercare support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA).  By being a part of one of these communities, people recovering from substance abuse continue to realize that they are not alone in their struggle with drugs or alcohol.  AA and NA provide many services of their own including support group meetings, sponsors for newly sober individuals, people to call if you feel like you are going to use or drink again, and continued educational services that can help reinforce skills learned in alcohol or drug rehab.  Recovery is a long road and every day will not be sunny, but with like-minded people by your side, it can be a lot easier.

30 Day (Short Term Rehab)

30-day rehab is sometimes referred to as short-term rehab and it can be a great way for people who are abusing drugs or have become addicted to physically take themselves away from the substances they use for a period of time.  Every day spent in a residential treatment program is one more away from the last time you used or drank. As these days add up, you will be able to see how drugs or alcohol were negatively affecting your life and the lives of the people around you.

A 30 day stay in a residential alcohol and drug treatment center can be a good fit for people who cannot commit to longer inpatient treatment.  At Muse, we understand that many of our clients must balance their responsibilities in life with getting treatment for drug or alcohol abuse.  That’s why we offer so many flexible options as part of our programs.  We never want anyone to not seek treatment because they think they cannot fit it into their schedule.

Long Term Rehab (60-90 Days)

Long-term rehab, which at Muse Treatment can last from 60 to 90 days, is a good fit for those people who have been addicted for longer periods of time and who can benefit from more time in around-the-clock care.  Due to the fact that a residential program removes you from your old environment where friends and acquaintances might encourage you to use or drink, it can make a significant difference in avoiding an early relapse.  Thus, the more days spent in an inpatient program, the more distance you can put between you and old habits.

In a long-term program, you have more time to make new friends who are traveling the same road as you. This is important because the fact is that there may be people in your life you have to leave behind once you have completed rehab, in order to minimize the possibility of using or drinking again.

Rehab as a whole, no matter whether you take part in a detox program, short or long-term residential rehab, outpatient therapy, or a combination of all of them, is a transitional period in a person’s life.  You have committed to making a change.  One that is going to benefit you in the long run.  Dedicating yourself to treatment is an important decision and one you’ll be glad you made.

Couples Rehab

Couples rehab is an excellent choice for people in two different circumstances.  First of all, it is a good decision for two people in a romantic relationship that are both abusing drugs or alcohol to both get help. It can be very hard for one person to quit while the other is still using or drinking.  Second, couples rehab can be good for people who want to actively support a spouse or partner who is going through treatment.  By taking part in therapy sessions with their significant other, a spouse or partner can learn how drugs or alcohol have affected their loved one and how to support them as they begin their recovery.

Pet-Friendly Rehab

Pets are known to be great sources of comfort during stressful times in our lives.  Many types of pets give unconditional love to their owners and all provide companionship.  This can be especially important during times that may be a little tougher, like when a person is going through alcohol or drug rehab.  Recently many alcohol and drug rehab centers have become pet friendly so that owners can continue to feel the same sense of normalcy during treatment as they do at home.  Having your pet with you can lower your stress level, which is always a good thing while undergoing any type of medical treatment.  Feel free to ask us about our pet policy when you speak to one of our counselors.

Does My Insurance Have Coverage for Rehab?

At Muse, cost and insurance coverage are always reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Many insurance providers do cover alcohol or drug rehab services.  Depending on your provider, certain types of therapy may or may not be covered.  We will review all of the details regarding insurance coverage with you before you begin treatment.  There is no need to add stress to a situation that is meant to help you move on to a more positive phase of your life so we will be sure to explain everything in great detail to you.
